  • FoodBank Naija Partners with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to Launch Transformative Keffi Resettlement Project

Keffi, Nigeria – June 14, 2025 – In a historic event that promises to reshape lives, FoodBank Naija joined Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to commission the Keffi City Resettlement Project – a groundbreaking initiative addressing both shelter and food security for displaced populations.

Why This Project is Transformational for Keffi

The launch of this resettlement project marks a turning point for Keffi and surrounding communities by:

  1. Providing Permanent Solutions to Displacement
For the first time, hundreds of displaced families will transition from temporary camps to proper housing with access to essential services, restoring dignity and stability.

  2. Combating Food Insecurity at Its Roots
Unlike temporary relief efforts, this integrated approach combines housing with sustainable food solutions through FoodBank Naija’s nutritional programs and agricultural training.

  3. Stimulating Local Economic Growth
The project will create jobs in construction, agriculture and community services, boosting Keffi’s economy while serving vulnerable populations.

  4. Establishing a Model for National Replication
As a pilot program, its success will guide similar initiatives across Nigeria, potentially benefiting millions of displaced citizens.

A Day of Hope and New Beginnings

During the June 14 commissioning ceremony, FoodBank Naija:

✔ Distributed 5,000+ nutritionally balanced food packs tailored for children, nursing mothers and the elderly
✔ Provided agricultural starter kits to begin sustainable food production
✔ Launched a community kitchen program to ensure daily meals for all residents

“Today we’re not just giving food, we’re planting seeds of self-sufficiency,” said FOODBANK NAIJA Coordinator. “This project proves that with proper support, displaced families can rebuild their lives with dignity.”

The Human Impact: Stories from Keffi
