  • A Global Honor: FoodBank Naija Cordially Invited to the Prestigious 2025 Igbo New Yam Festival in the United Kingdom

At FoodBank Naija, we operate on a simple, powerful belief: that compassion knows no borders. Our mission to eradicate hunger and build a thriving, inclusive Nigeria is a global conversation, and we are profoundly honored when the world invites us to the table.

It is with immense pride and joy that we announce our Founder, Mr. Kingsley Nnadi, and the entire FoodBank Naija team have been formally invited to participate in the grand 2025 New Yam Festival (Iri Ji) hosted by the Igbo Cultural Community, Hull, in the United Kingdom.

This invitation is not just an event; it is a powerful recognition of our work and a testament to the universal language of community and care that we champion.

The Significance of the New Yam Festival

The New Yam Festival, or Iri Ji, is one of the most significant cultural events for the Igbo people. It is a celebration of gratitude, a thanksgiving to the gods for a bountiful harvest, and a symbol of life, community, and prosperity. It embodies the very principles FoodBank Naija stands for: nourishment, abundance, and shared community spirit.

The theme of this year’s event, “Onuru Ube Nwanne Agbana Oso” (When a brother’s kola nut ripens, his kinsmen will gather to share it), resonates deeply with our core philosophy: Understanding the power of sharing.

Our Mission: Beyond Borders, Beyond Food

While we are thrilled to be part of this vibrant cultural celebration, our presence signifies a much larger goal. FoodBank Naija is on a steadfast mission to collaborate with organizations—both private and governmental—across the globe to amplify our impact and bring tangible help to the neediest regions in Nigeria and across Africa.

This event in Hull, United Kingdom, provides a vital platform to:

  • Forge Strategic Partnerships: Connect with diaspora leaders and organizations who are passionate about driving change back home.
  • Amplify Our Vision: Share our holistic model of support that goes beyond food, encompassing Health, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Girl Child Care.
  • Learn and Grow: Engage with a community that deeply understands the challenges and opportunities within Nigeria.

Building on a Foundation of Recognition and Impact

This international invitation comes on the heels of significant national recognition. We are still energized from our recent collaboration with Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, at the commissioning of the Keffi City Resettlement Project. This groundbreaking initiative, addressing both shelter and food security for displaced populations, is a clear model of the large-scale, transformative change we strive for.

From the heart of Keffi, Nigeria, to the community halls of Hull, UK, our message remains consistent: No mother should go hungry, no child should suffer malnutrition, and no family should be left without hope.

Join Us on This Journey

We are immensely grateful to the Igbo Cultural Community, Hull, for this honor. This invitation strengthens our resolve to continue our work and expand our reach.

Our vision of Building a Thriving and Inclusive Nigeria is a collective effort. Whether you are an individual in the diaspora, a international corporation, or a global NGO, there is a place for you in our community-driven efforts.

Let’s start a conversation. Let’s collaborate. Let’s bring hope, one meal, one program, one community at a time.
